Located in the exclusive Knightsbridge district, just a five-minute walk from the iconic Harrods department store, this historic five-star hotel has undergone a $137 million renovation project that took 18 months, infusing modern and trendy touches.
The local studio 1508 London redesigned this luxurios hotel which originally opened in 1961, to instill a new sense of lighter grandeur in the hotel experience and to enhance guests’ journey from the moment of arrival.
Inspired by the clean architectural lines of a classic colonnade, the redesign proposal created a refined, bright, welcoming, and sophisticated aesthetic throughout the hotel.
Among the major updates are the new lobby design, a double-height space that echoes a classic British grand hall with marble floors and a stunning chandelier. Throughout the property, the emphasis was placed on using a palette of exquisite materials: exquisite marbles, quality carpentry, decorative metallic accents with a high standard of finishing and detail.
With a reduction in rooms from 216 to 186, guests will have more space to relax, as well as access to Cadogan Gardens across the street. Reserved only for neighborhood residents and hotel guests, this nearly 5,000-square-meter green space in one of London’s most expensive areas is perfect for walks, jogging, or even a picnic and a game of tennis on its two courts.
The hotel’s second floor is home to London’s largest naturally lit swimming pool, located under a double-height glass ceiling for year-round comfort.
Talisa Spa has a sauna, Turkish bath, and treatment rooms equipped with Lemi products. The cosmetic partners are 111 Skin, Aromatherapy Associates, and Omorovicza Budapest.
