The Souq Al Wakra Hotel Qatar by Tivoli is a lovely hotel located in the new Souq on the shores of the Persian Gulf, inaugurated in 2018 in Al Wakra, the emerging seaside district just 20 minutes’ drive south of Doha, in Qatar. The hotel consists of two buildings with a total of 101 rooms, both former historic houses where the original character has been beautifully preserved with architecture that reflects a Qatari house or fortress.
The rooms and suites have been carefully designed with colorful motifs that reflect the cheerful blue of the sea and the sandy tones of the desert, inspired by Al Wakra’s history as a fishing and pearl hunting village. Each room features a classic thatched roof, reflecting traditional elements like woven baskets.
Open walkways and labyrinthine paths lead to courtyards where guests can book multiple rooms and create private areas for groups. With maximum privacy, it is possible to organize parties or meetings in guest rooms grouped around authentic Qatari majlis. Historically, a majlis was a gathering place where people discussed family and business matters, a true symbol of Arab hospitality for centuries.
The Tivoli Spa is another attraction of the hotel, offering separate treatment rooms for men and women, as well as a pool with hydromassage, a Turkish bath, an emotional shower path, and a cabin equipped with the Aemotio by Lemi bed for steam and Vichy shower treatments.
